Little Mount Washington
A quiet route with a rewarding overlook, the hike to Little Mount Washington winds through the Grantham Town Forest along old logging roads and snowmobile trails. The wide, gently rolling path makes for an easy, steady outing, with long stretches shaded by forest and only a gradual climb toward the summit.
About midway through, the trail begins to rise more noticeably before a short turn leads into the final approach. The path narrows here and can be a bit harder to spot, but continue upward and the trees soon give way to open ledge. At the top, the landscape opens wide—offering views toward Mount Cardigan and across the northern reaches of Eastman Pond.
Parking is available along Miller Pond Road, though seasonal conditions may affect access. During mud season, the unmaintained section of the road is closed, and you may need to park farther back and walk in. Expect muddy sections along the trail as well, but for those willing to navigate a few rough patches, the quiet setting and view at the top make the effort worthwhile.
